Obama Mocks Plumbers

Obama has run and, surprisingly, sustained one of the best managed campaigns since at least Reagan ‘84, but I believe he made a significant mistake by going after McCain with recent “Joe Plumber” attack lines. “A plumber is the guy he is fighting for”, Obama said sarcastically to a revved up crowd Thursday. Ironically, if Obama truly convinces the median voter that McCain is “fighting for plumbers”, then he will likely lose Ohio and Pennslyvania.

Let me just say this: My husband has been a licensed plumber for 15 years now. I don’t take kindly to the sarcastic remark made by Obama against the hard-working, underpaid plumbers in our country. Blue collar people need someone to stand up for them now more than ever. Tax hikes are not what the middle class needs. We struggle everyday to be able to afford the high costs of electricity, which is steadily rising, gas, which is steadily rising, and health care, which is steadily rising. I am an Instructional Aide for our local school district. I work for insurance, literally. But you know what, I don’t have a problem with that. Having health insurance is very important when raising 3 kids and being married to a man that faces health risks daily because of the many unsanitary situations he faces being a plumber. Obama is not who we need in the White House. He does not know what it is like to stand up for our country and defend her in everthing that we do.

I want whatever you are smoking, because you have to be high on something to think that McCain will do more for you and your family if he becomes President.

You want health insurance and McCain? Oh, jeez! Do you read?

Do you have a link to a video of this that is not cut up and looped over the same sound bite multiple times? It is hard to make up my mind about this when that is all that is there.

Watch the full, original video of his talk with Joe the Plumber, I think you will find your perspective of what Obama said much different than the Fox News version

You’re missing the point. He was not mocking plumbers. He was pointing out the humor in the idea that John McCain is out to help plumbers. I’ll make it clear: He is NOT GOING TO HELP MOST PLUMBERS. In fact, his policies will likely hurt most hard-working Americans. All of us are about to experience some of the toughest years in our lives largely because of the ideas that John McCain and his buddies keep pushing: Deregulating everything and giving tax cuts to large corporations.

If you watch the full original “Joe the Plumber” clip you’ll see that he actually WANTS TO HELP PLUMBERS like Joe. Most plumbers don’t make over $250,000 a year and if they own businesses that do but still qualify as small businesses they will receive tax cuts larger than under McCain’s plan. Also, as it turns out, Joe does not make anywhere near that amount of money and is in trouble for not paying taxes. Joe made up the question to “trap” Obama but Barack ended up telling him how we would still help him even though it was obvious that Joe was against him. That’s what a true American patriot does. He helps his fellow American whether he agrees with him or not.

Joe is not even a real plumber. He’s the son in law of Charles Keating of the Keating 5. He said he was going to buy a plumbing business that nets over $250 000 a year. He’s a plant, period.

I have to say that the editing on that was absolutely horrendous. It was very misleading as to what he said. That kind of cute editing only hurts McCain in the long run. I believe that there are lots of legit things to criticize Obama for on taxes, but that was a distortion. Not really worthy of the site.

It is said that Obama has a slick running campaign and the fact that all but one of the above comments come from Obama supporters sure proves the point. Obama’s organization can bring out a crowd for anything.

I am not an Obama supporter. I will be voting for Chuck Baldwin. However, I do believe the editing on that video was misleading.
