President

Obama, Blackberry and Email, Oh My!!

President Elect Barack Obama is considering putting a laptop on the most powerful desk in the world.  He may be the first President to do so.  I have mixed feelings about this because I would not be able to function without Gmail.  He also may have to give up his Blackberry.

Bush, The Invisible Man

While it is has been reported on by multiple news organizations for months and its the little secret everyone inside the beltway knows— I still found this interesting. The sitting GOP Leader - President George W. Bush has yet to make a single campaign appearance this year for a federal Republican candidate. While most of us believe the Bush legacy will be tainted in some fashion, this is just another example of to what extent. MSNBC Reports Below:

David Walker: “Both of These Guys Make It Worse”

See Video

Fairly non-authorative liberal (who calls himself libertarian, but I won’t) Bill Maher interviews David Walker who frankly discusses the shape and direction of the nation from a pragmatist point of view. Its good to see David reaching out to a progressive audience that is not hostile to his message of the need for fiscal sanity.

Great Pain at the Gas Pumps

Perhaps no issue places our economy in a pinch and our foreign standing in peril, more than issues concerning oil. The price of a barrel of oil fluctuates, but consistently climbs as the downward fluctuation is always higher than the last low price.

Granted, gas prices at the pump are not going to go down quickly, but we do need to consider how we have found ourselves at the place where we are, so that we might evaluate a sound approach to the issue. Consider the following issues:

1) Primarily due to lack of tax incentives and stringent environmental regulations, we have not seen a new refinery built in the US in the last ten years. At the same time, a new refinery is built every two years in the Middle East.
