Obama Cabinet
Frank wants to be HUD Secretary
Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) wants to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:
Rep. Barney Frank is interested in capping his political career as a member of the president’s Cabinet, according to a new biography of the Financial Services Committee chairman.Frank (D-Mass.) told author Stuart Weisberg that he would like to be Housing and Urban Development secretary. However, the 69-year-old lawmaker stresses that his departure from Congress is not imminent.
He first wants to pass more legislation on affordable housing, saying, “I want at least two years with President Obama and a solidly Democratic Senate so that we can get the federal government back in the housing business.”
Congress and the Federal Reserve created the housing bubble that crashed last year, and the man that told us in 2003 that “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not facing any kind of financial crisis” wants to sit in a cabinet post overseeing federal housing policy. Six years and half a trillion dollars later to the two government-created agencies, we see that wasn’t true.
Chuck Hagel is a Good Choice for Secretary of Defense
Barring a miracle of epic proportions, less than one week from now the nation will choose Sen. Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. But who will this young Senator choose to serve in his cabinet? His choice for Secretaries of State, Defense and Treasury are key decisions that will shape the “Obama Doctrine” and determine whether he governs as a principled leftist, pragmatic leftist, or centrist. While not a perfect candidate, of the names floated thus far, I believe Republican Senator, Chuck Hagel would make the best Secretary of Defense in an Obama Administration.
