Brussels Attacks Prove PC Police Will Not Defeat Islamic Terrorism

The sun had not yet begun to creep up over the horizon on Tuesday morning when my alarm clock went off, and I was awakened to the somber voice of a news reporter describing the scenes of carnage in Belgium after a series of Islamic terrorist attacks rocked the city of Brussels just a hours earlier as Belgians were on their way to work.

Initial reports indicate that passengers at the Brussels international airport heard gunfire around 8AM local time, followed almost immediately by an explosion at a passenger check-in desk. Moments later, as passengers panicked and fled the area, a second explosion hit inside the terminal. Within minutes rescue operations had begun. Just over an hour later, at 9:10AM local time, a third explosion hit a train at the Maelbeek Metro subway station, near the European Union headquarters. At least one of the explosions has been determined to be the result of a suicide bomber.

Obama Welcomes Terrorists, Shuns Allies

If we have learned nothing else from the Obama years, it is that Obama cannot be trusted. In his first days in office he insulted one of our strongest allies, England, when he returned a bust of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill (and in the first attempted assassination by boredom, Obama later sent to Queen Elizabeth an iPod containing a collection of his speeches). This was followed by truly dangerous actions, which put our allies in harm’s way, as with his decision to renege on our commitment to Poland and the Czech Republic to build a missile shield in Eastern Europe as a firewall against Russian aggression. Obama instead sent Hillary to Russia with a “reset” button for Putin, and we all know how disastrously that turned out.

Yet none have felt the consequences of Obama’s betrayal as harshly as have our allies whom he abandoned in Iraq and Afghanistan after making the decision to unilaterally withdraw U.S. forces against the recommendations of his senior theater commanders and top military advisers. Claiming he was leaving behind a “stable, sovereign, and self-reliant Iraq”, Obama left them to fend for themselves. In the vacuum created by the exit of American forces, we have witnessed the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, as well as the rise of the most brutal, murderous Islamist terror regime we’ve seen to date, ISIS.

PC Security Policies Welcoming In Jihadists

Last night’s GOP debate focused on foreign policy and national security. It’s a good thing, too, because the stratospheric levels of unbridled incompetence and militant political correctness that is the hallmark of the Obama administration should terrify each and every American. Even in the aftermath of the ISIS-inspired attack in San Bernardino, which left 14 dead and 21 wounded, the Obama administration is doubling down on its PC policies, and in the process putting the lives of each and every American at increased risk.

With multiple investigations underway into Islamist terrorists Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik following the San Bernardino attack, reports are revealing that what can only be termed political correctness on the part of the Obama administration has directly contributed to an inability to prevent the deaths of U.S. citizens.

Despite strong protests from senior officials within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Obama administration refused to end a secret policy which prohibited security officials from reviewing the social media posts of foreign citizens attempting to obtain visas for entry into the United States. This was due to the fear of DHS Director Jeh Johnson that the policy might create “bad public relations”.

Speaking to ABC News, former acting Under-secretary for Intelligence and Analysis at DHS, John Cohen, reported that “During that time period immigration officials were not allowed to use or review social media as part of the screening process…The primary concern was that it would be viewed negatively if it was disclosed publicly and there were concerns that it would be embarrassing.”

Obama Proposes Stripping Rights to Combat Terrorism

Last Sunday, in a speech he clearly had no interest in giving, Obama spoke to the nation from the Oval Office in an attempt to address the fears of many Americans following attacks in Paris (132 dead, almost 400 wounded) and San Bernardino (14 dead, 21 wounded) by Islamist jihadists. He failed to assuage those fears, primarily because he once again proved that he is clueless as to the real threat and the real enemy.

While acknowledging (finally!) that mass shootings at Fort Hood, and in San Bernardino and Chattanooga, were indeed driven by a virulent Islamist ideology, he once again lectured us against criticism of Muslims, proclaiming these actions represented a “perverted” interpretation of Islam (even though Omar Ahmad, co-founder of the supposedly “moderate” Council on American-Islamic Relations, once declared “Islam isn’t in America to equal to any other faith but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America and Islam the only accepted religion.”).

Then, to no one’s surprise, Obama used these recent tragedies to renew his push for more gun control. Under the guise of combatting terrorism, Obama declared, “To begin with, Congress should act to make sure no one on a no-fly list is able to buy a gun. What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terrorist suspect to buy a semi-automatic weapon? …We also need to make it harder for people to buy powerful assault weapons like the ones that were used in San Bernardino. I know there are some who reject any gun safety measures.”

There are three glaring problems with Obama’s proposed “solutions”; one practical, one political, and the other constitutional.

The Paris Attacks and the Suicide of the West

On Friday afternoon, as most Americans were looking forward to leaving work, reports started pouring out of Paris of multiple active shooters and coordinated bombing attacks across Paris. At least eight suicide bombers detonated their explosives at key attractions around the city, which were bustling with activity at the start of the weekend’s festivities.

Several bombs were detonated near the Stade de France (soccer stadium) as France played world champion Germany in front of tens of thousands of fans, including French President Francois Hollande, who was rushed to safety by French security services, after which he convened an emergency meeting of his cabinet secretaries.

At the same time, several popular restaurants and bars were attacked by terrorists, plus the Bataclan concert hall where at least eighty fans of the American band Eagles of Death Metal were killed as terrorists stormed the venue, firing into the crowd as they screamed “Allah Akbar!” an Islamic phrase meaning “god is greatest”. Witnesses report the gunfire lasted ten to fifteen minutes before the attackers clashed with the police. Four attackers were killed, including three rigged with suicide vests.

Islamic Terror: What We Must Do

Islamic terrorism was made very real for Americans eight years ago today. The ideology that has put a fatwa on Salman Rushdie’s head for the crime of writing a book, beheaded people on camera and targetted innocent people from New York to Mumbai was made impossible to ignore.

Certainly American foreign policy has a role in why Americans were targetted. It’s a truism that policymakers are interested in keeping petroleum available for consumers, hence why the United States feels the need to intervene there instead of in the affairs of non-oil producing problem states in sub-saharan Africa. If we’re going to ever stop having to worry about Islamic terrorism, finding solutions to our unsustainable way of life will be an essential move.

Nevertheless, the problem of Islamic terrorism goes beyond oil, as evidenced from massacres in Mumbai to cartoonists that have to fear for their lives for critiquing a faith, something that is only seen as a reason for capital punishment in one part of the world. It is important for intellectuals, academics, artists and journalists to remain steadfast and not give in to the blackmail of a backwards culture.

Dozens Injured in Weekend “Narrative Fight” With Islamic Terrorists

In Aeneid, the epic by the ancient Greek poet Virgil, the story is told of how the Greeks defeated the Trojans through the use of stratagem. As the story goes, the Greeks, after a decade-long siege of the city of Troy failed to secure a victory, deceived the Trojans by building a huge wooden horse, leaving it at the gates of the city as the Greek army sailed away. The Trojans, believing the Greeks had given up, brought the great horse within the city walls as a symbol of their victory. Unbeknownst to the Trojans, an elite force of Greek soldiers was hidden inside, which came out under cover of night, opened the gates for the Greek army (which had sailed back), and destroyed the city, ending the war decisively.

As the philosopher George Santayana noted, those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And Obama and his legions of progressive Democrats certainly seem determined to repeat history when it comes to allowing our enemies within our borders.

Following Islamic terror attacks this past weekend in New York, New Jersey, and Minnesota, Obama once again buried his head in the proverbial sand, berating the media for reporting the incidents as acts of terrorism. He admonished the press to “try to refrain from getting out ahead of the investigation…it does not help if false reports or incomplete information is out there.”

As loath as I am to admit it, it turns out Obama was right. Federal officials have captured a suspect in the recent New York/New Jersey terrorist bombings. The FBI has detained an Alabama man named Jim Bob Campbell, a Southern, white Republican and a member of the NRA and the TEA Party. His motive for the bombings is alleged to be because he is still angry at Obama for Obamacare and the failed stimulus bill.

Big government Peter King says he’s “running for president”

Peter King

Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who is among the biggest war hawks in Washington, recently told a New Hampshire radio station that he’s running for president, becoming the first Republican to announce for 2016:

In a radio interview this week, the Republican lawmaker told a New Hampshire station that he was in the state “because right now I’m running for president,” according to The New York Daily News.

The visit was King’s second of four trips to the traditional home of the nation’s first presidential primary.

The announcement makes King the first Republican to officially declare their intentions to run for president in 2016.
King is serving his 11th term in the house. Over the years he has been a vocal member of his party at times, especially on foreign policy issues.

King has been very critical of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and others in the Republican Party who have expressed a cautious approach to foreign policy, frequently labeling them as ”isolationists,” which is intended to be a pejorative; though the word has lost its meaning because it has become so overused.

Terrorists do not hate us for our freedoms

During the debate on Monday evening, Ron Paul was booed by many in the room for pointing out that our foreign policy towards the Middle East has largely served as the motive for terrorist attacks against the United States. Seeking an opportunity to score some political points by demagoguing what Paul said, Rick Santorum claimed that Paul was blaming America for 9/11 and repeated the common talking point that terrorists hate us for our freedoms. You can watch video of the exchange here.

Paul didn’t blame America for anything, and Santorum knows it. Moreover, Islamic terrorists don’t hate us for our freedoms. Anyone that has spent 10 minutes reading up on Islamic terrorism can figure that out. But if you don’t believe me, listen to Michael Scheuer; who served as head of Alec Station, commonly referred to as the CIA’s “Bin Laden Unit.”

“South Park” nominated for Emmy for controversial episodes

The two episodes of South Park that sparked so much controversy a couple of months ago have been nominated for an Emmy:

The censored “South Park” episodes that satirized the Prophet Muhammad picked up an Emmy nomination for outstanding animation program on Thursday.

The two episodes, simply titled “200/201,” were televised in April and came under a severe amount of scrutiny because some interpretations of Islam forbid visual representations of the prophet. As Dave Itzkoff reported at the time, the satire “elicited an ominous message from an Islamic group based in New York.” The group implied that the creators of “South Park,” Matt Stone and Trey Parker, would “probably wind up like Theo van Gogh for airing this show.” Mr. van Gogh was killed by an Islamic militant in Amsterdam six years ago.

The episodes were censored by the channel that carries “South Park,” Comedy Central, and they have not been repeated on television since April. They are also unable to be viewed on the show’s Web site, “After we delivered the show, and prior to broadcast, Comedy Central placed numerous additional audio bleeps throughout the episode. We do not have network approval to stream our original version of the show,” the Web site says.
