Bad policy produces bad results whether the President is a Republican or a Democrat
GOP on the Right Path
Did the Republican Party learn anything from their resounding defeat on November 4th? Perhaps so. According to TheCurrentAffairs.com, the GOP is not only reaching out to their members for ideas on how to improve the party and it’s message, but they are doing it via the internet.
“We are a party of principles and must regain our voice,” Republican National Committee chairman Robert Duncan said in a statement announcing the creation of the website, RepublicanForAReason.
From the Desk of Ron Paul: My Answer to the President
Dear Friends:
The financial meltdown the economists of the Austrian School predicted has arrived.
We are in this crisis because of an excess of artificially created credit at the hands of the Federal Reserve System. The solution being proposed? More artificial credit by the Federal Reserve. No liquidation of bad debt and malinvestment is to be allowed. By doing more of the same, we will only continue and intensify the distortions in our economy - all the capital misallocation, all the malinvestment - and prevent the market’s attempt to re-establish rational pricing of houses and other assets.
Last night the president addressed the nation about the financial crisis. There is no point in going through his remarks line by line, since I’d only be repeating what I’ve been saying over and over - not just for the past several days, but for years and even decades.
Still, at least a few observations are necessary.
Is Obama Anti-war?
Somehow the Democratic Party is conceived by many as the anti-war party.
Despite a history of foreign interventions occurring during all of the last four Democratic administrations (in which even the Nobel Peace Prize winning President Jimmy Carter armed the Mujahideen in Afghanistan), the overt hawkishness of the Bush Administration has resulted in a perception of the Democrats as doves. This is aided by remarks such as those by Speaker Nancy Pelosi referring to Iraqis as “all God’s children” and the fact that both the current Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, and the chair of the DNC, Howard Dean, opposed the Iraq war from the beginning.
McCain’s Simple Answer for Katrina Fiasco
Senator McCain has expressed criticism of President Bush’s handling of the Katrina aftermath. He has promised that a McCain administration will handle such disasters differently, promising “Never again”, and explained how he would have responded had he been president.
“I’m just saying I would’ve landed my airplane at the nearest Air Force base and come over personally,” he said.
Wow.
I’m sure that would have made all the difference in the world.
