Bill Clinton

The Funny Side of George W. Bush

See Video

This video is from early 2007 at the Radio and TV Correspondents’ Dinner. It’s truly hilarious. My favorite line is about Barack Obama’s “sleek, hairless pecks.” If Bush had presented himself this way more often, he may have been more popular.

A great documentary on the fiscal irresponsibility of the United States government.

The Struggle of Ted Haggard

I’m not one of those people who thinks the personal lives of public figures should be up for display. I find what happens with Bristol Palin and her boyfriend or Bill Clinton and his interns on the whole, irrelevant, and media coverage of it to be a breach of their right to privacy.

However, I take exception with those that publically preach against a type of lifestyle, while all the while participating in it. Take for example evangelical Ted Haggard, who preached Biblical condemnation of homosexuality:

The End of Race-Mongering?

Recently, I took a class taught by a professor who had spent much of their life as a scholar on American race relations. This professor’s career had been built on the premise that there were systemic (and apparently chronic) race difficulties in American society. With the United States of America electing its first black president, this professor was left with much of their intellectual firepower out of date.

(D) Fantasy DC: Senator Clinton?

I just about spit my coffee up when I read this yesterday, but apparently some people are calling on David Paterson to replace Hillary Clinton - with Bill.

While I seriously doubt that is going to happen - even the CNN article agrees that Bill would likely not be interested in becoming a Jr. Senator - I was a bit tickled by the prospect of seeing “Teflon Bill” heading to the Senate.

That whole “change” thing really was just good branding huh?

This morning Clinton said that he had no real interest in the seat.

From the history books:

Bill Helps Clear the Path for Hillary

Thanks to former President Bill Clinton, one of the obstacles facing Hillary’s appointment to Secretary of State has been removed.  Despite promises of anonymity to some of the contributors to the William J Clinton Foundation he started, Bill has agreed to disclose his list of donors. He’ll also refuse donations from foreign governments to the Clinton Global Initiative, his annual charitable conference, and will cease holding CGI meetings overseas.

How Will Clinton and Richardson Work Together?

All signs are pointing towards a Obama Cabinet divided between two heavyweights, Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Bill Richardson. The inclusion of either is not a surprise when each situation is looked at individually, but bringing both together the resulting combination is bound to bring about epic intra-administration ideological and power struggles. For example one of Clinton’s top surrogates James Carville said (to the NYT) in regards to Richardson’s Obama endorsement earlier this year-

“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,”

Former Clinton Deputy Attorney General Tapped by Obama

Obama’s apparent Attorney General pick follows a pattern of tapping established Democrats and veterans of the Clinton administration:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Clinton Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder is President-elect Barack Obama’s choice for the position of attorney general, according to two prominent Democrats involved in transition matters.

Holder, who is still being vetted, has indicated he will accept the job if it is offered, the sources said.

If confirmed, Holder would be the first African-American to lead the Justice Department.
