Barney Frank

Who is the U.S.’s Central Economic Planner?

Though it seems to fall on deaf ears, Dr. Paul continues to drive home the fact that central planning does not work and that it’s time to liquidate the bad debt.

Dr. Paul discusses further developments with the disbursement of the bailout funds and the resolution supporting Israel over Palestine.

Ron Paul Discusses Auto Bailout with Neil Cavuto

See Video

Surprised that Dr. Paul didn’t make it to the recent hearing Congress had with the automaker CEOs, Neil Cavuto questions Congressman Paul about the impending auto industry bailouts.  Dr. Paul’s answer as to why he wasn’t there-

“I know all the answers they’re going to give me, and they’re not going to entertain a serious approach to what they ought to be doing.”

Barney Frank: Time To Abandon ObamaCare

Ladies and gentlemen, the first nail in the coffin:

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) released a statement Tuesday night warning that it would be wrong “to pass a health care bill as if the Massachusetts election had not happened.”

The statement seems to advocate against ramming reform through Congress before Republican Scott Brown is seated and acknowledges that the House-Senate-White House negotiations are likely over.

The liberal congressman said he was “disappointed” in Tuesday’s election results—and that with Brown’s victory, “a reasonable compromise” between the House and Senate bills is no longer possible and support from GOP senators is now required to move the legislation.

“I feel strongly that the Democratic majority in congress must respect the process and make no effort to bypass the electoral results,” Frank said. “If Martha Coakley had won, I believe we could have worked out a reasonable compromise between the House and Senate health care bills. But since Scott Brown has won and the Republicans now have 41 votes in the senate, that approach is no longer appropriate.”

Expect more to come.

Frank wants to be HUD Secretary

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) wants to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:

Rep. Barney Frank is interested in capping his political career as a member of the president’s Cabinet, according to a new biography of the Financial Services Committee chairman.

Frank (D-Mass.) told author Stuart Weisberg that he would like to be Housing and Urban Development secretary. However, the 69-year-old lawmaker stresses that his departure from Congress is not imminent.

He first wants to pass more legislation on affordable housing, saying, “I want at least two years with President Obama and a solidly Democratic Senate so that we can get the federal government back in the housing business.”

Congress and the Federal Reserve created the housing bubble that crashed last year, and the man that told us in 2003 that “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not facing any kind of financial crisis” wants to sit in a cabinet post overseeing federal housing policy. Six years and half a trillion dollars later to the two government-created agencies, we see that wasn’t true.

Frank: Vote on HR 1207 in October

At a recent town hall, a constituent asked Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) about the status of HR 1207, the Audit the Fed legislation. Frank said that the House will take up the bill in October.

Dare I Say It? Kudos to Barney Frank

I disagree with Senator Barney Frank on many issues, including his ambitions to pass a single-payer health care system in the United States.

But after watching this video of a citizen at a townhall meeting ask him a ridiculous question, I’m going to stand with Frank just this once.

Holding a picture of President Obama with a mustache of a certain 20th century German dictator and mass murderer, the citizen at the microphone asks Frank how he can “continue to support a Nazi policy.” (She was referring to his views on health care.)

Frank couldn’t have handled the question better:

Ma’am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to have an argument with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it.

Brilliant. Watch it:

Frank: Public option will lead to government-run health care

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) was recently asked why Democrats aren’t pushing single-payer health insurance. He was rather honest in his response, telling the single-payer advocate that getting a “public-option” would be a step towards that goal.

Pay Regulation Pushed in Congress

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) wants to regulate salaries of workers from banks and financial institutions that received TARP money:

Bailouts, Transparency, and the Briar Patch

Tonight’s New York Times trumpets our new Treasury Secretary’s heroic efforts to restore trust and transparency to our bailout-ridden financial system:

WASHINGTON — The new Treasury secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, announced on Tuesday that he would crack down on lobbying to influence the $700 billion financial bailout program by companies that are receiving billions in taxpayer money.

Mr. Geithner, who was confirmed on Monday, also said he would set new limits intended to prevent political interference with decisions about which companies received bailout money.
