Time Magazine Cover: Obama as FDR

Obama will be featured on the cover of Time Magazine again (for what, the millionth time?), but this one may actually grab people’s attention and help their struggling sales. In the Nov. 24th issue they are featuring Obama as FDR. Obama should attempt to learn from FDR, but only to the extent of learning what not to do.

Did they want to highlight the fact that he’s black? The color composition in that cover is absolutely horrid.

I agree that Obama would have alot that he should not follow about FDR. Since he’s reading “Team of Rivals,” he would also be wise to read “The Forgotten Man.” It’s very widely acknowledged that the economy didn’t turn around until the onset of the Second World War, and not due to FDR’s “100 days” policy initiatives.

Just a thought - Perhaps Obama would be wise to put in place incentives for companies to bring jobs back to the States. Protectionism? Sure, but if there was ever a time for it it’s now.

I really need to finish “Team of Rivals”, though, I don’t know if you would count getting to page 69 as even starting the book.

As for FDR’s policies, I agree. It wasn’t until money was pumped into our economy because of military sales.

A time for protectionism ? Am I at the wrong site ? I thought this was a libertarian site ? hmmmm.

Hey, it’s just an idea. Despite my place here, I’m probably not the best ideologue too. I like the guys at the American Conservative every bit as the guys at Reason.

He’s spoken in great detail of those incentives (for companies to bring jobs back to the states) for many moons now. He intends to take away tax credits for companies that ship their jobs overseas, and increase tax credits for companies that keep all their jobs in america. Why hasn’t he put those incentives in place yet? BECAUSE HE’S NOT IN OFFICE YET! Jeez, give the guy a break! He’s not even on the clock until January 20th!

I wasn’t giving him a hard time. I was just throwing out ideas.

Though, Jah, you must admit that it is very easy to forget that President Bush is still in office. His profile is lower than low, especially in comparison with Obama. That’s why Obama has to keep reiterating that America has “one president at a time.”

I would not buy anything with OB on it and I hope the rest of the country does the same.
