Ron Paul Says It’s Too Early To Say If He’ll Run In 2012
Ron Paul isn’t saying yes to another run for the White House, but he’s not saying no either:
It’s “too early” to say whether Rep. Ron Paul will run again for president, the Texas Republican said Saturday.
The libertarian congressman told a crowd in Iowa, the starting point for a presidential campaign, that he is simply focused on reelection to the House.
“It’s not on my mind, it’s too early, and I will be filing for my congressional seat,” Paul said in an interview with IowaPolitics.com.
“I don’t have any plans made,” he said.
If the first for liberty is going to be a campaign of ideas and not a cult of personality, then it has to move beyond devotion to one man.
So no, I don’t think Ron Paul should run in 2012. He wouldn’t win and, quite honestly, he’d be too old to be President even if he did.
Instead, it’s time to start looking at other candidates, like Gary Johnson.

I don’t know if Gary Johnson can mobilize the Ron Paul R3VOLution to support him with the same vigor that Dr. Paul can. With the right amount of exposure at events on the 2012 Presidential campaign trail, I think the passing of the baton can begin though.
If you like Gary Johnson, you think that. I don’t DISLIKE him, but his positions aren’t the same, and aren’t, to my mind, as consistent. If RP DIDN’T run I might end up considering him the best running. However, if RP does run, he wouldn’t be. I’m open to someone new, but they have to have a record of principled adherence to the same standards RP has followed. I don’t know of anyone else yet, but am eager to find about 400 of them.
