Obama Watch

As Administration transition begins to kick into high gear I wanted to keep readers up to date on some of the latest Obama news- some negative, some to maybe to make a point, and some that is just interesting or funny.

According to Glenn Beck, who as recently moved from CNN Headline News to Fox News (which he will premier at in January), MSNBC had the audacity to:

They’ve [MSNBC] got a brand spanking new, completely non-coincidental, slogan for the news network. The brain trust must have been thinking long and hard about this one—-‘The Power of Change’. Never would have guessed the ‘news’ network with Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, David Gregory and some chick from Air America would steal Obama’s campaign theme. With any luck, viewers will show MSNBC the power of change——by changing the channel.

As we have reported on a number occassions earlier, such as HERE & HERE, many of Obama’s supporters are quite fanatical in their support- creating a cult of personality. Now Obama’s barber shop is the new point of interest with the media-

The shop has become something of a tourist attraction; Obama has been a customer for several years and it seems like word spreads through the streets when he stops by. Crowds always gather.

It’s no wonder people flock there for a chance at a peep at the next president. A weekly entertainment magazine Time Out Chicago has published a self-guided tour that includes the University of Chicago Law School, where Obama taught — and the barber shop. - AP News

Obama is confirming he believes in central economic planning more-so than any President since FDR. According to Reuters he now is considering creating an “Auto Czar” to help “fix the problems of the automotive industry”.

An Obama transition official said the president-elect was looking into “identifying someone in charge of the auto issue who would have the authority to bring about reforms that would lead to an economically viable auto industry.”

Recent reporting is stating that the Obama Transition Team is developing plans to close the Guantanamo Bay prison. It is good to see this as a priority for the Obama Administration.

Mr Obama, the future 44th president, is also expected to use his executive powers to reverse Bush administration policies on a range of issues, including stem cell research and oil exploration.

The potential move on Guantanamo is a contravention to the Bush administration, which established military tribunals to prosecute detainees and strongly opposes bringing prisoners to the United States.- Sky News
