Obama wants a “light touch” to government

President Barack Obama, while presenting his regulatory package to the financial system to the press, claimed a belief in small government:

I think the irony…is that I actually would like to see a relatively light touch when it comes to the government.

We can all relax now. Nevermind the expansion of government that makes George W. Bush blush because he wasn’t ambitious enough.

Interestingly, in the same press conference, the president said, “firm believer in the power of the free market,” and then said, “[t]here was a failure of the entire system.” That sort of doublespeak leaves you scratching your head.

Excuse the skeptical among us, Mr. President, we’re waiting to see something even remotely resembling a free-market policy come from your administration.
