IN LIGHT OF THE EARLIER DISCUSSIONS about Mumbai and the value of an armed citizenry, it’s worth noting that India apparently has strict gun control laws that, as usual, don’t seem to have kept guns out of the hands of killers.
Being raised in urban areas, my knee-jerk reaction to gun violence is gun control. However, it’s very obvious that serial killers and terrorists intent on wreaking havok are going to find a way to do so, laws be damned, and gun control laws can take guns out of the hands of people that need to defend themselves. What we have here is a failure of government to act on intelligence, not a failure of gun control.
