Frist would vote for ObamaCare

A couple days ago, Bill Frist (R-TN), former Senate Majority Leader, said he supported an individual mandate to purchase health care. He took it a step further today by saying he’d vote for the legislation sponsored by Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT):

Olympia Snowe is the only sitting Republican senator still in play, but former Republican Leader Bill Frist says he would vote for the Baucus bill if he were still a senator.

“That’s what leadership’s all about,” he told Karen Tumulty at TIME.

No sign yet that Frist’s arguments will sway any of his former colleagues. But pretty surprising stuff, and a pretty good talking point for the White House on an otherwise dismal day.

Lucky for us, Frist isn’t in Congress anymore.

Look, this should come as no surprise. Frist was the epitome of “Compassionate Conservatism,” backing the Bush agenda at every turn. He is no friend of liberty.
