Beyond Defeat: Conservative Renewal (hopefully)
With only one month until the election and an Obama win looking more solid with every passing day, it is hopefully becoming clear to Republicans that their future success does not lie on the road they are currently taking. The road of big government “conservatism” has worn thin and Americans have had enough.
So far the main impediment to renewal has been the sitting Republican President and an opposition party that not only has poor messengers, but a fundamentally flawed message and policy set. Less than 10% of Americans support the nation’s current direction, but only a slightly larger percentage see the current “trust the government this time, since its not Bush” message of the Democratic Party as an optimal alternative. In essence the Democrats have been pursuing a policy of “propping up” the Republican Party by providing lackluster opposition. With a Democratic sweep the situation will be fundamentally altered, hopefully for the betterment of the conservative movement and the nation as a whole.
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. - John 16:21 - KJV
As the above Bible verse shows, which is in the context of coming tribulation, it is fairly universal for one to need to go through great pains before new life is formed. Whether you apply the example of a woman’s labor or the trimming of a vine in order to spur new, more fruitful long-term growth the implications all lead to the same strategy. Just as the economy needs to liquidate its bad debt, the Republican Party needs to liquidate from power those who have run the party and nation into the ground.

Uh, big government “conservatism” (statism) is what is winning this election - Obama’s dog-n-pony is a bit more polished than McCain’s. Going “Ron Paul” on the national stage at this point is a 100% guarantee of defeat.
It’s not the government’s fault that the country is on the brink of a total collapse, but the people’s fault for voting in government that has in myriad forms promised the proverbial (yet literal) free lunch.
The country is to the point that we just have to hope that the inevitable runs its course ASAP - however, we’ve delayed it for so long that when it does occur it will be very bad leaving the people that much more apt to drink the socialist/statist elixir, possibly cementing the loss of the republic.
Good post, thank you.
