Sarah Palin to endorse Rand Paul

There is a report out that Sarah Palin will endorse Rand Paul in the Republican primary for United States Senate over establishment candidate Trey Grayson:

As Republican US Senate candidate Dr. Rand Paul approaches his biggest campaign event yet—a Saturday rally at the Fairgrounds that will feature Paul onstage with his dad, former Presidential candidate and US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul—the big news is an upcoming endorsement from 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

David Adams, Paul’s campaign manager, said he would announce the endorsement “as soon as we get it.”

“I would categorize that one as ‘worth waiting for’,” he said. “I’m waiting as patiently as I can.”

I’m not the biggest fan of Sarah Palin, in fact I’m annoyed by her, but this can’t hurt Paul in a Republican primary. It’s weird to have his father, Ron Paul, campaigning for him in the same week Palin will endorse him.

I disagree, albeit mildly. Palin is rightly associated with the folks who are trying to co-opt the massive anti-federalist movement afoot in this country. I don’t think Rand should deny the endorsement, but I definitely don’t think he should treat it as a major asset. Palin, frankly, is about as intelligent as the average cinder block, with a great deal of negative baggage. Those who support her as a viable candidate are frankly as ignorant as she is, and whereas their votes still count, they lack the neurons to accomplish meaningful positive action.

If I were Rand, my response might be “Thanks Sarah, here’s a gift certificate to Hooters as a token of my esteem.”

I think you are underestimating how popular Palin in with the GOP base. Sure, you and I see Palin in a negatively light (for the same reasons, mind you), but the Republican base still has a positive view of her.

Rand Paul and Sarah Palin have both taken pro-war positions in order to satisfy the neocons. Unlike Ron Paul. Or did I get that wrong? Political hypocrites like those two don’t deserver our support.

Bob D,

you got that 100% wrong. Rand Paul never had a ‘pro-war’ position, this is such nonsense and I’m sick of hearing it. Because whenever I promote Rand Paul on ‘Conservative’ messageboards the feedback is, “Oh he is an anti-war hippy terroist lover.” Then whenever Rand is mentioned in libertarian circles its, “hes a warmongerer.” It is such nonsense.

Rand Paul has the foreign policy of Ron Paul. End of story.
