Moms Demand Action seeks to make more Americans victims of gun violence

Every once in a while, America experiences a tragedy that is so heinous and agonizing, that the sheer unimaginable horror of it sends the nation into a tailspin of shock and tears on a mass scale. The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America were just such an event – an event where every one of us watched our televisions in horror, as planes filled with innocent people flew into buildings filled with innocent people, killing thousands.

The mass murder of innocent children at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012 was another such event. We watched in horror as the details of the mass murder by Adam Lanza filled our television screens. America held its collective breath as the body count mounted. Little children… how could this happen?

Almost immediately, the calls for gun control began.

The media screeched about a gun violence epidemic.

Sports retailers buckled under gun control pressure and began to “re-examine” their gun sales policies.

CNN’s Piers Morgan beat an obnoxiously loud drum to destroy the Second Amendment of a nation for whose Constitution he has nothing but disdain.

Opportunistic vultures politicians stampeded like a herd of demented cattle, tripping all over themselves in a race to see who can more egregiously violate the rights of law-abiding Americans.

And a stay-at-home mom, who obviously had way too much time on her hands created yet another gun control group – Moms Demand Action.

“Moms Demand Action was founded by stay-at-home mom Shannon Watts on December 15, 2012, in response to the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The organization quickly flourished into a leading force for gun violence prevention, with chapters in all 50 states and a powerful grassroots network of moms that has successfully effected change at the local, state and national level. In December 2013, Moms Demand Action partnered with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to unite a nationwide movement of millions of Americans working together to change the game and end the epidemic of gun violence that affects every community.”

Let’s forget for a moment the fact that the Moms With Nothing Better to Do partnered with the nation’s premiere band of criminals and corruptocrats working to disarm law-abiding Americans. Yes, I’m talking about Mayors Against Illegal Guns, whose illustrious membership ranks include the likes of Sheila Dixon, who was convicted of embezzlement and pled guilty to perjury, convicted child molester Gary Becker, violent jailbird Kwame Kilpatrick, the late Frank Melton, who kicked the bucket before his retrial for commission of a violent crime while in possession of a handgun, Samuel Rivera, who was convicted for covering up a homicide and other “upstanding” members of the community. Goodness! No wonder they want more gun control! Cities full of disarmed prey are a temptation for these predators.

Yes, let’s forget the corrupt, unholy fellowship between the Mommies and the Mayors, and let’s focus on the efficacy of this group.

The Mommies began 2013 with a call for Congressional action to infringe on the rights of innocent Americans. Their mission:

  1. Reinstate the ban on assault weapons and related magazines.

  2. Close gun-show loopholes that encourage private gun sales without background checks.

  3. Set boundaries on how much ammunition a person can purchase.

  4. Limit the scope of concealed weapons laws at the state level.

How did that work out for them?

Not. So. Well.

  1. Dianne Feinstein’s repeated attempts to do a rain dance in the blood of innocent children in order to push her odious “assault” weapons ban died a blissful death at the twisted paws of… Harry Reid.

  2. Americans once again saw right through the gun show “loophole” rhetoric when presented with actual facts.

  3. The U.S. House of Representatives did, indeed, set a limit on how much ammunition could be purchased… by the Department of Homeland Security.

  4. And last July, Illinois became the last state to pass concealed carry.

Not quite the “powerful, grassroots organization” the Mommies claim to be, is it?

The Mommies’ latest mission was to try and pressure the manager at Staples in Madison, TN to make the store a victim disarmament zone, but things apparently didn’t work out the way they had hoped.

Yes, it turns out that the manager of that particular Staples store is a gun rights supporter and carries her tool of self-defense “at all times.”

Just so you know.

The Mommies could do little more than throw a tantrum in frustration after being rebuked by a real woman who understands and values her life and the lives of the customers who shop at what has to be one of the safest stores in Tennessee!

The Mommies’ demand for “action” is, in fact, a hysterical, emotional demand for sloth and apathy.

It’s a demand that we, the people, disarm and surrender our lives, our property and our bodies to violent thugs.

It’s a demand that we lay down our arms and depend on “the authorities” to protect us – something that according to legal precedent, police have no obligation to do.

It’s a demand that politicians relieve us of our rights without cause.

It’s a demand that we allow them to do so.

It’s a demand that we ask permission to exercise our basic right to protect our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

And all of these demands have no hope of preventing another Sandy Hook.

Laws against theft did not prevent Adam Lanza of stealing firearms from his mother.

Laws against murder did not prevent him from killing her and taking multiple lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School that day.

“Gun-free school zones” did not prevent Lanza from taking a firearm to Sandy Hook that day and committing mass murder.

And ammunition and magazine size limits would have done nothing to lessen the carnage.

On the other hand, citizens use guns to protect lives and property every day in the United States – hundreds of thousands of times per year. Many go unreported, because merely brandishing a pistol is many times enough to prevent a violent thug from preying upon the innocent.

And while the Mommies claim that they have no desire to infringe upon the rights of Americans, and that they’re merely trying to inject some “common sense” into the debate, their dangerous agenda strives to do exactly that.

Let’s consider ourselves lucky that Mommies’ demands for action have thus far been inept and ridiculous, but we should never let down our guard.
