If I were you, I would send to the local authorities AND let them know you may be a future victim of Kimberlin’s famous “swatting” occurances….it is not a surprise that this happens, because Obama has unleashed his own Political Nazis on Congress, to force change on his terms, not the people’s.

Actually I’d say this is a case tailor-made for a libertarian response. Police are unlikely to do much, but if you simply make the email address of the deranged sender to the public…

I made a comment on an article about Obama’s birth certificate and I got the same kind of comment. Very similar, it said they hoped I would die and my kids would die in their beds as well.

By all means send this to whatever law enforcement will act on it, but they won’t do anything…. Publicizing their email address, name and location? Priceless.

I came here expecting something out of the ordinary. Alas, this is just standard fare from the loving and tolerant left.

No, publish the address. Was this a work address? If so, send a note to postmaster@ his address asking whether someone might have hacked into the system in his name, or if not, whether they want someone of such intelligence working for their company. If private, can you look up the man’s DNS record?

I used to say that Leftists would get my gun when they take it from my cold dead fingers. But now I know it will be Leftist who try to take my guns that end up with cold, dead fingers. Not me. And it’s emails like that one that make me sure to keep one handy.

While this email is utterly horrid, it doesn’t constitute a true threat, so it’s unlikely that the police will do anything about it.

The females are the worst. Estrogen + hysteria + inability to think + limited vocabulary = vile, threatening nonsense.

This isn’t anything out of the ordinary. It’s standard rhetoric at lefty websites. As far as being a threat, it’s pathetic until it isn’t.

I usually give them my address and invite them over for tea,

This part of the problem with SWAT teams being sent out

Electoral victory seems only to have further stoked Lefty rage. Perhaps the recent inauguration leads them to think that their blood thirsty fantasies could finally be realized.

Thomas Sowell, an economist that I follow quite a bit, said this about the left vs. right: because of their high self-esteem, they have to think they’re doing right, but we (conservatives) have to know that we are doing right. The whole good intentions vs. good results argument.

I’m curious about the perp’s vocation. I have this theory that the nastier the Leftist, the more likely they have a “moral” offset to compensate for the benefit of their self-image: nurse, teacher, Save the Whales activist, etc.

This is my question for the guy that wrote this horrible diatribe. If he is so down on Christians and is probably an atheist then how can he use the word “pray” in his response? We know from his response that he definitely is not a Christian so to use the word pray is rather ironic.

I would love to get Nancy Pelosi’s response on this guy’s comments. I am sure she would be all upset that one of her squad is doing such a poor job of “civilized dialog.”

I agree with the guy above who said to publish the address. The cops won’t do anything about him because “I wish you were dead” isn’t a threat. If he’d said “I’m going to kill you”, then that would be actionable.

Anyhow, the way to put an end to tantrums is to expose the infantile little git who’s throwing the tantrum.

Would be great to see him/her get a visit from the police, but how do you know it’s from a legitimate account? I think it’s pretty easy to spoof emails.

Respond to the email and tell them that some idiot has hacked their account, and they should notify the authorities.

You’re looking at this the wrong way. Whoever wrote you that email is a hilariously pathetic dweeb who deserves to be endlessly mocked. You should respond to him - publicly - with a well crafted troll. Say whatever it takes to further his hysteria and you will find yourself laughing heartily as he froths frantically while convulsively shaking his tiny fists in hapless fury.

I recommend posting the email address for the trolls to have their way with. I think there are some websites where you can enter an email address and sign it up for the mother of all spam lists. Just some food for thought. If you’re not that sinister visit as many mental health support group sites as you can find and sign that email address up for the mailing list of every one of them. May be a more subtle way to send a message, who knows maybe it’ll even help.

It annoys me that when people are on the receiving end of crime (petty as it may be - for something like a car break-in), they don’t notify the police. There are many things wrong with this, but a few stick out:
Crimes stats are warped downward.
Police don’t know things are worse in a certain area, and then don’t know to deal with it.
Scumbags don’t even get touched by the 1st phase of justice, not to mention that the system lets them off b/c jails are full of pot-smokers.

When did President Obama start sending personal e-mails to you?

I have found(being a conservative), when commenting on anything about Obama on a news site, the immediate attacks are vicious! There is no doubt in my mind that these are planned attacks coming straight from pro Obama, rabid, posters! It is easy to see that conservative type remarks are not organized, but simply people expressing their concern over the track our government is taking! On the other hand the rabid liberal response is just that! They are not adding their remarks or simply stating their opinions, instead they attack opinions already posted!! They do this using derision, often bad language. It is simply that they are trying to keep conservative opinion from being heard by smothering it with uneducated ranting!

I don’t know about the e-mail’s being a threat, but it is certainly the verbal equivalent of menacing. There’s really no good way to shrug it off. Publishing the person’s e-mail address is not really a good idea, but supplying it to the police is definitely a good idea, whether or not something is immediately done. Also, a little e-sleuthing might enable the discovery of the person’s occupation and address, which would provide an opportunity for someone to confront him (common gender) in person. Persons of this kind were once called “pot valiant,” because their supposed bravery came out of a bottle. This kind of person might now be termed “byte valiant,” since they hide behind the anonymity of their computers. Face to face, they would most likely crumble. But I wouldn’t go alone.

The best defense is a good offense. Go public with all the information about the sender you have and do it in a very large way.

Needless to say, I’m strongly considering sending this one to the police since the e-mail address, which I’ve left off the post, is from a legitimate account.

Just publish the email address. Someone will find out who he is and outing him as a lunatic is a far better response than calling police.

Well, it’s your blog so it’s your rules but you might reconsider and:
1) seriously report this to the FBI
2) publish the mutt’s email address
3) if their picture comes up on http://www.images.google.com, publish the URLs of those photos as well.

You wouldn’t be alone. Michelle Malkin for example cuts these monsters no slack. And as long as we cut them slack, they’ll continue to salt your inbox with threats.

Publish the address and as much information as you have. The right has too long limited itself by concerns of decency and we are getting our asses whipped because of it. We won’t win until we make it painful to act like this.

I too think you should publish the email address and also the full header with your info redacted. While I don’t think the email is technically a threat, its ugliness definitely rises to the level of deserving a good shaming.

Publish AND report. This is a war, and it’s time people of good will stop acting like complacent victims and start acting like patriots.

To those saying that he should publish the email address of the sender, you need to slow down a little on those thoughts.

He needs to first be absolutely sure that it is the real e-mail address of the sender by looking at the full header or raw source of the e-mail and see the track back of the e-mail. This should give the ip address and computer name of the sender and the e-mail servers that it was routed through.

The reply to address can be totally bogus. The reply to e-mail address can be set to anything by the sender just like the e-mail field that you used when you posted these comments. It is very easy to send a bogus e-mail through a hacked computer and a computer acting as an open SMPT server. This is how you get all those SPAM e-mails with bogus reply to addresses or con artists claiming to be Bank of America etc needing you to up-date your account information at their bogus web site. Always verify !

It’s so pitiful, I can’t help but picture this ugly, relatively young woman I occasionally see on my way back from the bagel shop - with unkempt lawn and grimacing face.

The rather rotund harpy has still got her Obama 2012 signs in the yard, surrounded by plastic, faded jack-o-lanterns in a circle it would appear, ironically in the reddest of red states.

I don’t know if this is a form of manic depression, as virtually all lefties I meet seem to have the some form of mental illness, six donuts short of a dozen, or simply desperately seeking attention.

The sender is utter subhuman scum, but that email is NOT a threat, just vile and disgusting. Freedom of speech isn’t free and you would be doing liberty a disservice by trying to drag the cops into this (like they would care). Now if you change the wording just a bit it certainly COULD be an “actionable” threat—-but it simply does not rise to that level as written.

Just my two cents.

I like the ideas about publically shaming the writer—although chances are you would only make him a hero to the crowd of Obama voters he hangs out with and likely works with.

This is similar to things my wife and I have experienced.

She was working as a volunteer poll watcher in Florida in 1994 and saw one of her colleagues pushed into traffic for daring to voice support for George Bush. (the young lady was uninjured luckily)

My experience when writing commentaries is for the leftists to descend immediately into name calling and personal attacks because they are simply unable to defend their pro-government positions intellectually.

We are dealing with a mob of violence-prone, low-information, Obama-loving, government-dependent morons; now there is ad hominem.
